It all started when...
Devon's friends decided to throw her a "West Coast" bachelorette night. It was the coming together of people from all walks of life, ideals, styles, laughs but all had one thing in common: they believed in supporting + loving their fellow sisters. This night was no exception.
After a few bars and some bachelorette shenanigans, they decided to end the night at Devon's favorite tiki bar — The Kona Club — where pictures of Tom Selleck from Magnum P.I. lined the walls and fluttered into every woman's heart as they stared doey eyed while waiting for their Mai Thai.
The girls had worked out a plan with Brian and the other fellas to meet everyone there and bring a big cake to celebrate. Brian looked in the fridge and in a matter of hours, whipped up a 3-tiered chocolate cake with cookie dough icing and dark chocolate ganache.
The cake was gone in 10 minutes flat, even beckoning over some of the waiters and waitresses at the bar. It was that good.
Soon after, one of their good friends walked over to Brian and tapped him on the shoulder.
"I just needed to tell you that this is one of the best cakes I've ever eaten," she said, "And I'm not sure if it's because I'm about to get my period, but I almost cried."
He was flattered at receiving such a raw, honest and relatable compliment. Devon sat next to her friend later that night and told her not to worry.
"We'll be sure to make you one of these cakes every month."
When they woke up the next morning full of love and gratitude for their community, they realized there was something here. They sat up all morning discussing the idea, dubbing it Moon Cycle Bakery® and quickly researching, putting together focus groups, and attending women's events to see what they could find.
What they found was that so many women were craving a time of the month where they felt seen, heard, held and gifted. A time where they embraced and even relished in their bodies and the amazing cycle that happens (whether on time or not). there were women who were ready to shed the stigma + talk about periods as naturally as they occur in our bodies. there were women who were ready to believe that they could satisfy their cravings and nourish their bodies — that they didn't have to give up one for the other.
as we moved forward, we knew we wanted to empower women through choice + knowledge. we wanted women to fill their bodies with goodness as much as their souls. we decided to team up with experts, bloggers + women alike to create moon cycle bakery® the way it deserved — with integrity, love + healthy alternatives that satisfied (and soothed) their cravings.
moon cycle bakery® is a project from our hearts to yours and we are so excited + grateful that you're here.
